The Ivrea public prosecutor’s office has opened a file for culpable railway disaster and multiple manslaughter regarding the tragic accident at work which occurred at the Brandizzo station , where, along the Turin-Milan railway line, five workers died, run over by a train transit. According to what is learned, the victims were about to begin the replacement of some rails, when, due to causes under investigation, they were overwhelmed by a train passing by platform 1, dying instantly. From the images recorded by the station’s video surveillance cameras, the Ivrea prosecutor’s office, which is trying to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident, hopes to be able to acquire important details. The train, as reported by the carabinieri, was traveling at 160 kilometers per hour and the workers were carrying out work to replace a few meters of track near the station, when the technical convoy passed, carrying a dozen wagons from Alessandria to Turin. The mayor of Turin and the president of the Piedmont Region also arrived in Brandizzo , at the site of the massacre. “We will go to the end to find out the reasons for this tragedy.
